Alice Clarke
Naturally I respond to the changing materials that each season brings to the farm; picking raspberries in summer and plucking a goose in winter.
I live in the heart of countryside; my work to date has always been inspired by what’s around me in my rural surroundings. It has shaped and evolved the way I see my jewellery and practice. The ever-changing way of rural life has encouraged and fed my ideas.
When designing and making jewellery I take inspiration from the muted tones, rich textures, shapes and functions around the farmhouse, inside and out. I make use of the materials the land has provided for me.
From the initial drawing to realization I dream, believe and harmonize; appreciating the found and the foraged and understanding the ‘lay of the land’.
